Most common question is why is the Edge so thick?
The good news is that the thickness is not noticeable when paired with shoes. It WILL NOT make your shoes tighter as you might think when holding this sock in your hands. The thickness, referred to as a full cushion (which means the whole foot is cushioned) is there to offer foot stability, helps with foot fatigue when you are on your feet all day. It also helps with common foot problems such as plantar fasciitis, neuropathy, ankle pain, etc.
How is cotton a good sock for being active?
Let's start with cotton itself. It is widely known that cotton absorbs moisture, which is why this is not typically the go to socks for those who are active. However, when you treat the cotton fibers with nano-silver, it prohibits that moisture absorption and displaces it, turning those fibers into wicking fibers.
Nano Silver
The Nano-Silver treatment we use is approved and used by the US Marines and US Navy. It went through 4 years of testing to meet military specifications and is used in all of our Elemax Silver series socks. Our testing shows that the nano silver sticks around for up to 60 washes, however, you don't have to launder as often, but when you do remember to wash cold, tumble dry low and no fabric softener.
Yarns
Paul Bryan is all about quality. We use high needle counts to produce a stronger, softer, more durable sock. Then we choose the highest quality yarns, which in this case, we use ring spun combed cotton.
What is Ring Spun Combed Cotton?
Ring spun cottons are smoother and stronger. They go through a rigorous spinning process that softens and straightens each fiber. Then the cotton fibers are combed to remove any impurities or imperfect strands, creating an uber soft, super comfortable and incredibly durable sock.
